Lahore Court Acquits Farhan Asif of Fake News Allegations

A local court in Lahore has acquitted Farhan Asif, who was previously arrested on allegations of spreading fake news that incited racist attacks in the UK.

On Monday, the duty judicial magistrate issued the ruling and ordered the immediate removal of Asif’s handcuffs in the courtroom. The court had been reviewing the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) application in the case.

During the proceedings, the FIA presented Farhan Asif before the court after his physical remand had concluded. The agency informed the court that their investigation had not uncovered any evidence against him.

Consequently, the FIA requested that Asif be discharged from the case due to a lack of evidence. The court accepted this request, declaring Farhan Asif not guilty of the charges. Following the court’s decision, FIA officials removed his handcuffs in the courtroom.
