KPK Government Achieves Financial Success with Rs250 Million from Markhor Hunts

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has set a remarkable milestone by earning Rs250 million through the sale of four markhor hunting permits.

This notable accomplishment not only reflects the government’s financial success but also boosts the region’s economic prospects.

According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department, the highest bids for the trophy hunting permits came from the Toshie 1 and Toshie 2 areas.

It is projected that hunting two markhors in these regions will generate over Rs150 million, highlighting the success of this initiative.

Additionally, a markhor hunt in Kiga, Kohistan, is expected to bring in Rs53.7 million, while another hunt in Gahirat, Chitral, is projected to raise Rs52.8 million.

Beyond the financial benefits, these hunts provide critical opportunities for local communities.

Wildlife officials confirmed that 80% of the revenue from the trophy hunting program is allocated to local residents, contributing to the local economy.

These funds are used for community development and wildlife conservation projects, promoting sustainable growth in the area.

This achievement is vital for preserving wildlife in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and offers economic benefits to the local population, underscoring the importance of continuing such initiatives in the future.
