KP Unveils Rs2.25 Trillion Budget for FY2026-27

Development and Public Welfare Dominate KP Budget Proposals

PESHAWAR: (Web Desk)  – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has finalized budget proposals for the fiscal year 2026-27, with the overall outlay estimated at more than Rs2.25 trillion. The provincial administration has aligned its financial planning with the federal government’s decision to increase salaries and pensions for public sector employees.

Officials revealed that KP is expected to receive over Rs1.671 trillion through federal transfers during the upcoming fiscal year. Additionally, the province anticipates securing more than Rs159 billion in funds linked to counterterrorism efforts.

The government also expects to generate over Rs100 billion through net hydel profit and outstanding arrears, a key source of provincial income. Meanwhile, revenue collection from provincial resources is projected to exceed Rs150 billion.

A major portion of development spending, around Rs334 billion, has been earmarked for projects in the merged districts, underscoring the government’s commitment to infrastructure growth and regional integration.

Under foreign-funded development programmes, KP expects to receive more than Rs150 billion in assistance. For settled districts, development expenditures have been estimated at approximately Rs1.971 trillion, reflecting a strong focus on public infrastructure and service delivery.

The proposed budget also includes Rs15 billion for the procurement of medicines in government hospitals across the province to strengthen healthcare facilities and improve patient care.

According to officials, the budget’s key priorities are development initiatives, social welfare programmes, healthcare improvements, and sustained investment in essential public services.
