KP Govt Imposes Complete Ban on Teacher Transfers
Schools have reopened, and continuity in classroom teaching must not be compromised,” said an education department official.
PESHAWAR – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Elementary and Secondary Education Department has imposed a complete ban on the transfers and postings of teachers across the province, effective from September 10.
According to official sources, the decision comes in light of the resumption of academic activities following summer vacations, and aims to ensure stability in classrooms. Authorities believe that reshuffling teaching staff at this stage could disrupt students’ learning and academic schedules.
“Schools have reopened, and continuity in classroom teaching must not be compromised,” said an education department official. “This ban is necessary to avoid unnecessary disruptions.”
Under the new directive, teachers of all cadres have been instructed not to submit transfer applications to the Education Minister’s office or the department’s secretariat during the ban period. The department has also issued a warning that strict disciplinary action will be taken against anyone who violates the directive.
District Education Officers (DEOs) across KP have been directed to ensure full implementation of the ban in their respective regions.
Annual Transfers Only Through E-Transfer System
As per the department’s policy, teacher transfers will now be permitted only once a year, during the summer break, and must be carried out exclusively via the e-transfer system. This digital approach is designed to bring transparency and efficiency to the process.
Minister Emphasizes Focus on Students
KP Education Minister has called on all teachers to focus entirely on educating students, emphasizing that uninterrupted academic activity must be the top priority as schools resume.
“Our children’s education is a shared responsibility. Now that schools are open, we must all do our part to provide a stable and consistent learning environment,” the minister said.
The move has been welcomed in some educational circles as a step toward greater discipline and accountability, though it is expected to face criticism from teachers seeking genuine relocation requests.
