KP govt cancels NOCs for unbuilt hotels and commercial land on riverbank

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has canceled NOCs of unbuilt hotels and commercial land on the riverbank.

In this regard, the DG Land Use and Building Control Authority has written a letter to all Chief Planning Control Officers.

According to the letter of the DG Land Use and Building Control Authority, all NOCs issued for commercial construction have been canceled. The NOCs of the buildings on which construction work has not started have been canceled.

Sources say that the KP government’s decision to cancel NOCs of unbuilt hotels and commercial land on the riverbank was due to floods in Swat, Malakand, and Hazara divisions.

According to sources, the relevant Tehsil Municipal Administration had issued NOCs without verification.

On the other hand, Director General of Land Use and Building Control Authority Khizr Hayat Khan said  that NOCs have been canceled on the instructions of the Chief Secretary, and new NOCs will be issued under the Building Control Regulations 2024.

According to Khizr Hayat Khan, before starting construction work on the riverbank, NOCs will be obtained from the Irrigation Department, while NOCs of buildings already constructed or under construction on the bank will also be checked.
