KP Govt Announces Key Achievements in 2024 Annual Performance Report

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has released its annual performance report for 2024, showcasing a range of initiatives and developments that reflect the administration’s commitment to improving the lives of its citizens.

One of the most notable achievements of the year was the restoration of the health card program, which had been suspended during the caretaker period. The provincial government reactivated this program, providing free medical treatment to 789,721 patients with an expenditure of over Rs. 20 billion from March to December 2024. In addition, Rs. 5 billion worth of medicines were provided to government hospitals to ensure the availability of essential medical supplies.

Barrister Saif, the spokesperson for the KP government, highlighted the introduction of the Life Insurance Program, under which families of individuals who passed away before the age of 60 received Rs. 1 million, and those over 60 received Rs. 500,000. This program aims to provide financial relief to families during difficult times.

The provincial government also launched a Debt Management Fund to reduce financial burdens, while approving Rs. 7 billion for the technical training of police in merged districts and Rs. 1 billion for the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).

Another key initiative was the establishment of the Provincial Regulatory and Distribution Company to ensure direct electricity supply to industries. Additionally, KP introduced the Peshawar Health City mega project, aimed at improving healthcare infrastructure in the region.

During Ramadan, the KP government allocated over Rs. 7 billion to benefit over 728,000 families. The initiative included a food aid program, with Iftar and Sehri arrangements made at shelter homes, costing Rs. 20 million. Additionally, over Rs. 1 billion was distributed to deserving families across 115 constituencies.

In terms of international support, the KP government facilitated special flights for Pakistanis stranded in Kyrgyzstan, repatriating 1,408 citizens at a cost of Rs. 143 million.

For youth empowerment, the KP government provided interest-free loans worth Rs. 3 billion to young entrepreneurs. Moreover, the KP Food Security Support Project, worth Rs. 25 billion, was introduced to improve food security in the province, alongside the initiation of 17 new housing schemes providing 38,630 plots.

The government also expanded the number of Etta Scholarships from 253 to 500, increasing the scholarship amount from Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 3,000. To combat drug abuse, a special task force and control room were set up at the Chief Minister’s House, while five special schools for students with disabilities were established in the merged districts.

Barrister Saif expressed the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of the people and ensuring the continued progress of the province. With these initiatives, the KP government is aiming to build a more prosperous, secure, and inclusive future for its citizens.
