KP Bans Exams in Private Schools During Winter Vacations

Such action will be initiated under the KP-PSRA Act, 2017, and the relevant regulations framed in 2018.

PESHAWAR: The Private Schools Regulatory Authority (PSRA) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has prohibited private schools from holding examinations during the winter vacation period.

In an official notification issued on December 26, the authority said it had observed that some private schools had announced exam schedules during the winter holidays, which is a violation of earlier directives. The PSRA directed all private schools to immediately cancel any examinations planned for this period.

The notification warned that strict disciplinary action would be taken against institutions that fail to comply. Such action will be initiated under the KP-PSRA Act, 2017, and the relevant regulations framed in 2018.

The authority reiterated that no private school or institute is permitted to conduct exams during winter vacations and stressed that all previously issued guidelines must be followed without exception.

Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has already announced winter holidays for both public and private schools, with different schedules based on climatic zones.

Schools located in summer zones will remain closed from January 1 to January 15, while institutions in winter zones will observe a longer break from December 22, 2025, to February 28, 2026.

The decision was taken in view of harsh weather conditions, including dense fog and snowfall in several areas, particularly in hilly regions, to ensure the safety of students and staff.
