KP Assembly Approves Budget 2026-27 With Focus on Health, Education and Public Welfare
KP Assembly – (Web Desk) – The KP Assembly approves budget 2026-27 by a majority vote, setting the financial roadmap for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the coming year. The provincial assembly also approved amendments to the Annual Development Programme during the same session.
Provincial Minister for Law and Finance Aftab Alam presented 66 financial demands before the House. All demands were passed by the lawmakers without major resistance. Opposition parties also withdrew their cut motions during the proceedings.
The approved budget directs billions of rupees toward key public sectors. Health received the largest share with Rs 262.62 billion. The police department was allocated Rs 138 billion, while higher education received Rs 52.46 billion.
The finance department got Rs 14.73 billion and the home department was allocated over Rs 4.56 billion. The government also set aside Rs 7.77 billion for the communication sector and Rs 11.27 billion for irrigation projects.
For mineral development, Rs 2.27 billion was approved. Population welfare initiatives received Rs 1.24 billion. The provincial assembly’s own operational expenses were approved at Rs 627.9 million.
With all financial demands cleared, the KP government is now ready to launch its fiscal plans and development projects for the 2026-27 financial year.
