Khawaja Asif Urges Global Community to Resolve Gaza-Like Conflicts
NEW YORK – On Monday, Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif emphasized that without resolving conflicts like Gaza, lasting global peace and stability will remain elusive, Dunya News reported.
Speaking at the UN General Assembly’s Summit of the Future Plenary Session, Khawaja Asif stressed the need for collective efforts to tackle global security challenges. He warned that current security issues pose a significant threat not only to future generations but also to the prospect of enduring peace worldwide.
He called for reforms in the global system to create better opportunities for over 100 developing countries and highlighted the international community’s responsibility in shaping a better future for the world.
Khawaja Asif also urged international financial institutions to offer debt relief to poorer nations and to financially support developing countries. He added that Pakistan seeks to capitalize on advancements in artificial intelligence (AI).
Describing the Summit of the Future as a “once-in-a-generation” chance for transformative change, Asif said it offers an opportunity to commit to bold new solutions. The summit provides a platform to establish international frameworks that more accurately reflect the realities of the 21st century and address present and future challenges.
He concluded by reiterating the global community’s responsibility in steering the world toward a safer, more peaceful, equitable, inclusive, and sustainable future.
