Karachi two major gas power plants shut down

Karachi's energy landscape changes as old gas plants close, paving the way for a more stable electrical future for residents.

Karachi – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) -K-Electric has permanently shut down two of its major power plants in Karachi. The decision was made official after the company’s board of directors gave their final approval. The affected plants are the Korangi Town Gas Turbine Power Station and the SITE Gas Turbine Power Station.

The main reason for this closure is a severe and ongoing gas shortage. K-Electric explained that local natural gas is no longer available for these older plants. The company also tried using imported gas, but this solution proved too expensive and unreliable to continue. This shift is part of a larger plan to move away from outdated energy sources.
