Karachi Mayor Vows Action Against Those Responsible for Gul Plaza Tragedy

“All details will be documented in the Karachi commissioner’s report,” he said

KARACHI: Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab on Monday announced that strict action would be taken against all individuals found responsible for the Gul Plaza tragedy, assuring that no aspect of the incident would be ignored.

Speaking to the media, the mayor said that all facts and details related to the incident would be thoroughly examined and included in a comprehensive report being prepared by the Karachi commissioner. He added that the findings of the report would serve as the basis for legal and administrative action.

Murtaza Wahab revealed that the first approved map of Gul Plaza was passed in 1990, under which the building was permitted to have 1,021 shops. However, he noted that the plaza currently houses around 1,200 shops, which is a clear violation of the approved plan.
