Karachi Kings Defeat Peshawar Zalmi by 23 Runs in High-Scoring PSL Clash

RAWALPINDI: In the 27th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Karachi Kings triumphed over Peshawar Zalmi by 23 runs in a thrilling encounter held at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and opted to field first. Karachi Kings capitalized on the opportunity and posted a massive total of 237 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their 20 overs. Captain David Warner led from the front with a brilliant knock of 86 runs, while James Vince added 72. Khushdil Shah remained unbeaten on 43, and Mohammad Nabi contributed 26* to power the Kings to a formidable total.
For Zalmi, Luke Wood claimed two wickets, while Ali Raza and Araf Yaqoob took one wicket each.

Captain Babar Azam played a spectacular innings of 94 runs, while Saim Ayub supported with a quick 47. However, the rest of the batting lineup couldn’t keep up with the required run rate.
From Karachi’s bowling unit, Abbas Afridi picked up two wickets, with Hasan Ali and Hamza taking one wicket apiece.
Before the match, players and officials expressed strong solidarity with the Pakistani armed forces, offering heartfelt tributes for their bravery and sacrifices. The Chief of Army Staff also attended the match at the Rawalpindi Stadium, adding to the patriotic atmosphere.
After winning the toss, Zalmi skipper Babar Azam had mentioned that restricting the opposition to 170-180 runs would be ideal on the dry-looking pitch. He also shared his excitement about playing in front of fans and confirmed he would be batting at number three.
