Kakar warns strict action against drug supply at educational institutions

Anwaar directs maximum facilitation, swift visa issuance to Sikh Yatrees

ISLAMABAD  -Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Monday said strict action would be taken against drug dealers supplying narcotics at educational institutions. He said the sellers of narcotics were detrimental to the future generation of the country The prime minister expressed these views at the social media platform, X after holding a meeting with the officials of the Ministry of Interior and the Inspector General of Police. He said Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti would personally supervise the efforts to eradicate the use of narcotics at educational institutions.

 

PM stated the government would ensure the common man’s access to basic healthcare facilities, observing that it was the right of every citizen.

The premier, in a meeting with WHO’s Pakistan representative Dr Palitha Mahipala, appreciated the world health body as well as other partners for extending support for the reformation of Pakistan’s health sector.

Kakar lauded World Health Organization’s support for the up-gradation of health facilities across Pakistan, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

He said the mobile health clinics and ambulances provided by the WHO would help the government provide basic health facilities to the people at their doorstep – even to those living in remote areas.

Kakar was told during the meeting that the mega project for the up-gradation of 464 health facilities would complete in a period of two months.

Besides providing health facilities, the mobile health units would be linked to the central healthcare system which would also enable them to refer patients to major hospitals.

Later, the prime minister also witnessed the signing of Letter of Understanding between the Ministry of National Health Services and the WHO. He also inspected the five ambulances, a mobile clinic and two vaccination vans donated by the WHO.

Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Monday directed the authorities concerned to extend maximum facilities to the Sikh Yatrees intending to attend their religious festivals in Pakistan. The prime minister, chairing a meeting to review the visa facilities being provided to the Sikh Yatrees by the Government of Pakistan, said the Sikh pilgrims coming to the country to visit their holy places were the guests in Pakistan.

 

He was briefed on the Sikh festivals being held throughout the year, and the facilities for issuance of visas provided to the pilgrims. He instructed the relevant authorities to extend all-out facilities to the Sikh Yatrees for carrying out their religious rituals and visiting their holy places.

The prime minister also directed to accelerate the visa issuance process while ensuring the transparency in the system. He said the Sikh Yatrees coming to Pakistan via Kartarpur Corridor must be provided with the facilities of international standards.

The interior ministry briefed the meeting on the visa facilities for Sikhs, time duration required for visa issuance, administrative affairs of Kartarpur Corridor and annual festivals of Sikhs. Prime Minister Kakar also instructed the authorities to present a comprehensive strategy for facilitation of Sikh pilgrims coming via Kartarpur Corridor or from other countries.
