Justin Bieber DMX clip sparks online buzz on drug use
Despite public speculation about drug use, a Bieber representative told TMZ earlier this year:
NEW YORK: Justin Bieber has stirred online buzz after sharing a thought-provoking clip of late rapper DMX discussing sobriety and his spiritual connection with God.
The 31-year-old pop star, who just released his surprise seventh studio album Swag, reposted the video from a Los Angeles-based weed dispensary account, Gassy, on Instagram over the weekend. The clip was taken from a 2013 episode of Iyanla: Fix My Life, where DMX told life coach Iyanla Vanzant that he didn’t want to live sober.
When asked if he wanted to be “a clean man,” DMX defied expectations, saying, “Why would I?” before adding, “I think I’m exactly where I need to be with God.”
Bieber offered no direct commentary on the post, but the choice to share it—especially via a cannabis-related account—sparked fan discussion about his own relationship with marijuana, sobriety, and spirituality.
Justin Bieber has openly embraced his Christian faith in recent years and is closely associated with Churchome pastor Judah Smith.
But he has also posted images of himself with bongs and smoke, and recreational marijuana use is legal in California, where he lives with wife Hailey Bieber and their baby boy, Jack Blues Bieber.
Despite public speculation about drug use, a Bieber representative told TMZ earlier this year:
“The recurring narrative that Justin is using hard drugs is absolutely not true. He is in one of the best places in his life.”
