Justice Babar Sattar Plans Extended Leave Amid Judiciary Controversy
IHC Judge Cites Concerns Over Judiciary Amendments and Targeted Harassment in High-Profile Case

Islamabad-(Mudassar Iqbal): Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Babar Sattar is reportedly planning another extended leave, possibly starting on November 4.
Although the IHC duty schedule lists him as available next week, sources suggest he will return to work on October 30 and continue until November 1 before beginning a fifteen-day leave.
This comes amid ongoing controversies involving Justice Sattar. Sources say his decision to take leave is partly due to discontent with recent constitutional amendments impacting the judiciary. Earlier this year, he was one of six judges who submitted a letter to the Supreme Judicial Council alleging harassment by intelligence officials.
Justice Sattar is currently presiding over a significant audio leaks case, which has unveiled a mass surveillance system, the “National Intelligence Management System,” used for monitoring citizens. During proceedings, he lodged a complaint with the IHC Chief Justice, alleging he was being targeted for his position in the case.
Previously, Justice Sattar requested Lahore High Court Chief Justice Aamer Farooq to initiate contempt proceedings after his personal information, including his U.S. residency permit, was posted online.
He raised concerns over his family’s privacy violation, as their identity cards and permanent resident details were shared on social media. The Lahore High Court subsequently instructed the Federal Investigation Agency to take action against those responsible for leaking his private data.
