Junaid Akbar Retained as Public Accounts Committee Chairman
PTI Founder Yet to Make Final Decision: Gohar
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has instructed MNA Junaid Akbar to continue as Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) for the time being.
Earlier, senior PTI leader Junaid Akbar officially stepped down as Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), submitting his written resignation to the party.
The development came after it emerged that PTI founding chairman Imran Khan had directed Akbar to resign from the position and focus on provincial matters.
In a video statement issued today, Akbar confirmed that he had handed over his resignation to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, saying that he readily accepted the decision of the party and Imran Khan.
According to insider reports, Barrister Gohar informed Imran Khan about Junaid Akbar’s resignation.
The PTI founder reportedly expressed satisfaction over Junaid Akbar’s prompt compliance with the instructions given to him and appreciated his commitment.
Despite earlier considerations regarding Akbar’s resignation, Imran Khan has now advised him to carry on with his responsibilities as PAC Chairman for the time being.
