Fazlur Rehman Urges Diplomacy for Regional Stability at NSC Meeting

Islamabad: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed deep concern over Pakistan’s security challenges while addressing the National Security Committee (NSC) meeting.

Sources present at the meeting indicated that Maulana Fazlur Rehman stressed the need for continuity in state policies, urging the government to avoid becoming entangled in any foreign conflicts. He expressed apprehension over Pakistan’s past involvement in wars, particularly highlighting the nation’s participation in conflicts against Afghanistan.

The JUI-F leader sharply criticized Pakistan’s alliance with the United States in the post-9/11 war, calling it a “grave mistake” that led to dire consequences for the country. He emphasized the importance of learning from past errors and underscored the necessity of prioritizing Pakistan’s sovereignty and national interests above all external pressures.

In a bid to address the growing concerns over terrorism in the region, Maulana Fazlur Rehman offered to mediate negotiations with Afghan authorities. He stressed the need for dialogue as the key to resolving terrorism-related issues and fostering lasting peace in the region.
