LAHORE — A vibrant and insightful seminar titled “Japanese Language as a Career Path for Pakistani Youth” was held at the University of Central Punjab (UCP), attracting over 200 enthusiastic students, educators, and professionals. The event aimed to empower Pakistani youth with tools to access educational and professional opportunities in Japan through language proficiency and cultural understanding.
Organized under the Japan Career Pathway Program, the seminar featured a distinguished panel including Ms. Sitara Arif, National Director / Country Head (Federal Ministry of Education) and President of the Pakistan Japan Socioeconomic Association (PJSA), Mr. Muhammad Basharat, Executive Member PJSA, and Ms. Sajjal Rehman, Corporate Head Coordinator. Together, the speakers highlighted the increasing demand for Japanese-speaking professionals in industries such as IT, healthcare, engineering, and hospitality.
A key focus of the seminar was empowering women through education. Ms. Sitara Arif introduced upcoming incentives for female students and trainers, aiming to promote gender-inclusive access to international career pathways. She also presented prominent Japanese programs and scholarships including MEXT, JASSO, and the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) system.
“Japan is one of the most civilized countries in the world,” said Ms. Arif. “With determination, you can achieve not only high earnings and structured living, but also deep personal growth, peace, and a refined life. In Japan, you will truly meet yourself.”
In his keynote address, Prof. Dr. Khalid Manzoor Butt, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences at UCP, emphasized the value of strategic career planning, stating:
“You’ve already invested 14 years of your life in education. Now, just 6–8 more months of focused effort toward Japanese language and skills can entirely redefine your future.”

Attendees were introduced to practical pathways to study and work in Japan, including cultural adaptation frameworks and application procedures for Japanese scholarships.
The seminar concluded with vibrant networking and a call to action for participants to join future training programs under PJSA, in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Islamabad and the Federal Ministry of Education. The initiative reflects a growing partnership between Pakistan and Japan in education and workforce development.
