Italy Launches Climate Resilience Project in Sindh Through MoU with UNFAO, AICS, and CESVI

ISLAMABAD — In a significant step toward addressing climate challenges in Pakistan, Her Excellency Marilina Armellin, the Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UNFAO), and international NGO CESVI to initiate a three-year climate resilience and anticipatory action project in Sindh.

The MoU signing ceremony took place at the Italian Ambassador’s Residency in Islamabad. Key dignitaries present included Florence Rolle, FAO Representative in Pakistan; Francesca Zatta, Director of AICS; and Farhan Ahmed Khan, Regional Manager (South & West Asia) at CESVI.

The initiative aims to enhance climate preparedness and resilience in vulnerable communities across Sindh, a region frequently impacted by extreme weather events such as floods and droughts. The project will focus on sustainable development, early warning systems, and community-based adaptation strategies.

The collaboration reflects Italy’s continued commitment to supporting Pakistan in achieving its climate goals and building sustainable, disaster-resilient communities.
