ISSI Unveils “Pakistan’s Pathways to Development” Amidst Economic Challenges

Experts Stress Integrated Approach to Pakistan's Development

Islamabad-(Mudassar Iqbal)-The Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) launched its first edited book, “Pakistan’s Pathways to Development: Integrating Economy, Environment, & Society”. The event was organized by the Centre for Strategic Perspectives (CSP) and featured prominent speakers, including Dr. Waqar Masood Khan, Former Advisor to the Prime Minister on Finance.

Dr. Waqar Masood congratulated ISSI for publishing a book with diverse writers from various disciplines. He highlighted Pakistan’s significant challenges on international and domestic fronts, including sanctions limiting access to international markets and domestic issues such as population control, education, and political will.

Ambassador Sohail Mahmood, Director General of ISSI, emphasized the book’s critical themes of economy, environment, and society. He noted the importance of enhancing Pakistan’s economic competitiveness, green transition, educational reforms, poverty alleviation, and youth empowerment.

Other speakers, including Mr. Haroon Sharif, Dr. Faisal Bari, Ms. Kosar Bano, and Dr. Safdar Sohail, discussed issues such as economic restructuring, education, health, climate change, and social justice.

The book brings together experts advocating for integrated strategies that recognize the complex interplay between economic, environmental, and social spheres. Ambassador Khalid Mahmood, Chairman BoG ISSI, commended the ISSI team for their efforts in publishing the book.
