Azad Jammu and Kashmir, with its capital in Muzaffarabad, is a region administered by Pakistan as a nominally self-governing entity ¹. The region has a parliamentary form of government, modeled after the British Westminster system, with its own President, Prime Minister, Legislative Assembly, and Supreme Court.
The meeting between Muhammad Tariq Sohail and Raja Shahid Hussain is a step towards fostering greater cooperation and understanding between the ISPR and the Public Relations Department. By exploring ways to enhance employee numbers and improve media interactions, the department aims to promote more effective communication and information dissemination in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The region’s history dates back to 1947 when the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government was established ¹. Since then, Pakistan has exercised control over the region without incorporating it into the country. The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council, headed by Pakistan’s Prime Minister, oversees the region’s budget and tax affairs.
As the ISPR and Public Relations Department collaborate to address pressing issues, their efforts will likely contribute to the growth and development of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. By strengthening their partnership, they can better serve the region’s population of over 4 million people
