Islamic Republic of Iran Embassy in Islamabad Issues Statement on International Quds Day – April 2024.
ISLAMABAD: On the eve of International Quds Day, observed on the last Friday of Ramadan, the Islamic Republic of Iran Embassy in Islamabad released a statement reaffirming its commitment to the Palestinian cause. Originating from the initiative of Imam Khomeini in 1979, this day serves as a symbol of unity among Muslims worldwide, offering support and solidarity to the Palestinian people.
The statement emphasizes the need to remember the decades-long oppression faced by Palestinians and renew commitments to establish an independent Palestinian state based on the principle of self-determination. It condemns the actions of the Israeli regime, citing genocide and hybrid crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the loss of innocent lives and destruction of Palestinian infrastructure.
Expressing gratitude to Pakistan for its strong stance against the crimes of the Zionist regime, the embassy condemns the recent attack on the Iranian embassy in Syria, which resulted in the martyrdom of seven Iranian military officials aiding the people of Gaza and Palestine.
The embassy underscores the significance of International Quds Day as a global campaign against violence, terrorism, and discrimination, while advocating for the rights of Palestinians to self-defense and self-determination. It calls for complete freedom for Palestine, denouncing the occupation and expansionism of the Zionist regime and urging for a ceasefire in Gaza and the provision of humanitarian aid.
