Islamabad’s Famous Hiking Trails Closed Due to Heavy Rainfall

ISLAMABAD: Authorities in Islamabad have announced the temporary closure of all the popular hiking trails in the Margalla Hills in response to the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s weather forecast for the next 72 hours. According to PMD, Islamabad is expected to experience heavy to torrential rainfall.

The District Magistrate of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) has notified all authorities to temporarily close Trail 2, Trail 3, Trail 4, Trail 5, and the trail behind Saidpur Village on Sunday, 24 August 2025, for the general public in the Federal Capital. The decision has been made to prioritize public safety amid the adverse weather conditions.

This decision aligns with broader safety measures being implemented across the country as heavy monsoon activity continues to impact various regions. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to experience widespread rain and thunderstorms.

Similarly, torrential rains may trigger flash floods in local streams and nullahs in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, and Galliyat during the same period. Authorities have urged the public to avoid traveling to affected areas and to stay updated on weather conditions to ensure their safety.
