Islamabad’s CDA Nursery to Become ‘Gardenia Hub’ in Major Green Initiative
CDA Aims to Make Islamabad a Horticultural Hub with Modern Greenhouses
ISLAMABAD: In a significant step towards transforming Islamabad into a leading horticultural and environmentally sustainable city, Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Chief Commissioner Islamabad, and Director General Civil Defence Muhammad Ali Randhawa paid a surprise visit to the CDA Nursery on Park Road. The visit was part of ongoing efforts to upgrade and transform the facility into the ambitious Gardenia Hub.
Accompanied by Member Environment, Member Administration, Member Engineering, and other senior officials, Chairman CDA conducted a detailed review of the progress made so far in the nursery’s upgrade, restoration, and modernization.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman CDA highlighted that the vision behind the project is to establish Islamabad as a major horticultural center, with state-of-the-art infrastructure that supports both aesthetic and environmental goals. He emphasized the swift completion of modern, visually appealing flower shops, as well as the development of greenhouses equipped with advanced, climate-controlled ventilation systems.
The project will also incorporate tissue propagation laboratories, enabling high-quality plant cultivation and research. Additionally, the Chairman directed that dedicated areas be reserved for vibrant flower exhibitions, aimed at engaging the public and promoting a culture of greenery and sustainability.

“The comprehensive design of this project reflects CDA’s commitment to enhancing Islamabad’s green spaces,” said Chairman Randhawa. “The Gardenia Hub will be a landmark in making Islamabad a greener, more dynamic capital.”
Officials were also instructed to mobilize all available resources to ensure timely completion and convert the CDA Model Nursery into a state-of-the-art horticultural facility.
The initiative is seen as a key milestone in CDA’s broader environmental strategy, aligning with Islamabad’s image as one of the greenest and most scenic capitals in the region.
