Islamabad United Crush Multan Sultans to Maintain Perfect Record in PSL 10

Islamabad United chased down the target in the 18th over with 7 wickets in hand.

MULTAN – Defending champions Islamabad United continued their unbeaten streak in the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, defeating Multan Sultans by 7 wickets in a commanding display at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Wednesday night.

This marked Islamabad’s fifth consecutive victory in the tournament, while Multan Sultans suffered their fourth loss in five matches. In their overall PSL encounters, this was the 18th match between the two sides, with Islamabad now leading 10-8 in head-to-head wins.

Multan won the toss and opted to bat first, posting a total of 168/5 in 20 overs. Openers Mohammad Rizwan and Yasir Khan gave the Sultans a solid start with a 51-run partnership. Yasir scored 29 runs with 2 sixes and 2 fours before falling to Mohammad Nawaz.

Captain Mohammad Rizwan made 36 off 30 balls, becoming Shadab Khan’s 100th PSL wicket. Shadab joined an elite group of PSL bowlers with 100 or more wickets, alongside Hasan Ali (118), Wahab Riaz (113), and Shaheen Afridi (109).

Usman Khan was the standout performer for Multan, smashing 61 off 40 balls with 4 sixes and 4 fours. However, contributions from Michael Bracewell (9) and Iftikhar Ahmed (10) were minimal. Kamran Ghulam remained unbeaten on 13, and Chris Jordan chipped in with 6* runs.

In response, Islamabad United chased down the target in the 18th over with 7 wickets in hand. Despite losing opener Sahibzada Farhan early for 22, Colin Munro (45 off 28) and Andre Fletcher (80* off 45) built a match-winning 81-run partnership. Fletcher’s explosive innings featured 5 sixes and 6 fours.

Mohammad Nawaz also played a vital role, scoring 21 off 14 balls before being dismissed by Chris Jordan. His 55-run partnership with Fletcher sealed the win for Islamabad.

Islamabad’s bowlers shared the spoils, with Meredith, Shadab, Nawaz, and Holder taking a wicket each.

Multan Sultans will face Lahore Qalandars in their next match on April 26 in Lahore.
