ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad has introduced a major shift in its publicity strategy during Pakistan Day celebrations by carrying out nearly 40 percent of promotional activities through digital screens. This move is being seen as a significant step toward a modern, eco-friendly, and pollution-free communication system, replacing traditional plastic flex banners.
According to an official statement, all promotional activities داخل the Red Zone were conducted entirely without plastic. Authorities are also gradually implementing a policy to phase out conventional plastic banners and flags across the city to promote a cleaner, more organized, and modern urban environment.
The statement added that under the leadership of Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, efforts are being accelerated to transition toward a sustainable and environmentally friendly advertising system. This initiative aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of transforming the capital into a modern and developed city.

Chief Officer Dr. Anam Fatima stated that the use of digital screens has enabled quick and effective public messaging without incurring additional costs. She explained that agreements with advertising companies are structured in a way that national campaigns and government messages are broadcast free of charge.
She further highlighted that, in addition to environmental benefits, the digital system has become a significant source of revenue. Currently, Islamabad has 909 small digital screens and 13 large advertising screens operating across the city.
This year alone, the auction of digital screen rights has generated approximately Rs 280 million, demonstrating the strong commercial potential of this modern advertising approach.
