Islamabad, Rawalpindi Launch Joint Effort Against Dengue Fever
Islamabad_(Mudassar Iqbal)-Islamabad and Rawalpindi have joined forces to combat the spread of dengue fever. A high-level meeting, co-chaired by Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa and Commissioner Rawalpindi Amir Khattak, aimed to strengthen coordination between the twin cities.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, along with other key officials. The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad provided a comprehensive briefing on the current dengue situation, ongoing surveillance activities, and preventive measures in place.
Similarly, the Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi shared the actions taken against dengue in Rawalpindi, highlighting the challenges faced. It was noted that the number of reported dengue cases is lower than last year, and government hospitals have sufficient beds to accommodate dengue patients.
Chief Commissioner Randhawa directed that Islamabad and Rawalpindi administrations enhance coordination in the border areas to ensure timely action. Focal persons were appointed to facilitate effective communication between both cities.
He also emphasized the importance of joint efforts to eliminate dengue breeding sites and called for increased public awareness, particularly targeting vulnerable groups such as the elderly and children. Educational institutions were urged to participate in this awareness campaign.
The meeting also decided to provide specialized training for doctors and medical staff in both public and private hospitals. Chief Commissioner Randhawa stressed the need for intensified surveillance in areas reporting dengue cases and directed assistant commissioners to closely monitor the situation in their respective areas.
Furthermore, comprehensive fogging operations will be carried out across the twin cities to eliminate breeding sites. Both administrations were encouraged to work together as a unified team in the fight against dengue.
This collaborative effort demonstrates the commitment of Islamabad and Rawalpindi to combat dengue fever and ensure public safety.
