Islamabad: Islamabad Police has announced a comprehensive security plan for Muharram, aimed at ensuring safety during 181 processions and 965 Majlis sessions from 1 Muharram to 2 Rabi Awwal.

Under the leadership of IG Islamabad Ali Nasir Rizvi, a meeting reviewed security arrangements, with DIG Islamabad Syed Ali Raza outlining the specialized security strategy.

The plan includes stringent measures such as thorough checks at all entry and exit points of Islamabad, monitoring of processions via Safe City cameras, and deployment of armed personnel on rooftops during gatherings. Roads along procession routes will be secured with barbed wire, and bomb disposal squads will clear these routes. Additionally, vehicles and motorcycles will face a complete ban from entering the processions.

Drone cameras will record video footage of congregations and processions, while attendees, both local and non-local, will undergo meticulous searches before being allowed entry. Metal detectors and walk-through gates will be stationed at all procession entry and exit points to enhance security measures.
