Islamabad Metro Bus Service Suspended Amid Security Concerns

The Islamabad district administration has announced the suspension of the Metro Bus service in the city until Friday due to security concerns.
According to the administration, delegations attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting are still returning to their home countries, and the temporary service suspension is part of enhanced security measures.
In its statement, the district administration indicated that feeder buses linked to the Metro Bus service will also be halted during this period. The suspension aims to ensure the safety and smooth travel of the visiting dignitaries.
Previously, the government had revealed a comprehensive traffic plan for Rawalpindi and Islamabad during the SCO conference from October 14 to 16. This plan included various road closures and diversions to maintain a smooth flow of traffic during the high-profile event.
From October 14 to 16, all types of heavy traffic were banned within the city limits. Over 1,100 traffic officers were deployed to manage and facilitate the traffic during this time. Additionally, the Expressway from Zero Point to Koral Chowk was closed to vehicles.

The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus Service was fully suspended from October 14 to 17, meaning the service will not operate between Sadar Station and Pak Secretariat during this period.
