Islamabad IG orders city evacuation amid escalating protests

Authorities have also issued orders to clear major roads, including IJP Road, as well as Islamabad’s main entrances and exits

ISLAMABAD: In a decisive move to maintain law and order, Islamabad’s Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ali Nasir Rizvi, has ordered the evacuation of the city today as the ongoing protests continue to escalate. The federal police have decided to surround the demonstrators, and to facilitate this, the Islamabad administration has closed down markets in adjacent sectors.

IGP Rizvi has also deployed fresh security forces to ensure a swift response. A full-scale operation is being planned for tonight, with a focus on clearing the city, particularly around key locations such as D-Chowk. In anticipation of the protest’s spread, all markets near D-Chowk, including those in Melody, Blue Area, Aabpara, F-6, and F-7, have been sealed off.

Authorities have also issued orders to clear major roads, including IJP Road, as well as Islamabad’s main entrances and exits. The administration is bracing for any emergency situation and is prepared to take firm action against the protesters. Given the tense situation, authorities are expecting a significant crackdown to maintain control over the capital city.
