Islamabad High Court Orders Jail Meetings for PTI Founder

Justice Arbab Taher Warns Against Violating Court Orders.
Islamabad (NewsDesk): The Islamabad High Court has directed jail authorities to facilitate meetings with the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The court has instructed both parties to devise a mechanism and notify the court accordingly.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Taher of the Islamabad High Court heard the petition against the ban on prison meetings with the PTI founder.
Superintendent Adiala Jail Asad Warraich appeared before the Islamabad High Court and stated that numerous requests for meetings were being received.
Lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat informed the court that this decision was reached during Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan’s court session.
Superintendent Adiala Jail Asad Warraich stated that the order was to permit meetings for six individuals besides the lawyers. He added that there are approximately 7,000 inmates, making it impossible to comply with the court’s order to allow daily meetings for six individuals.
Justice Arbab Taher remarked to the Superintendent of Jail, “You come every day with a new objection. You need to see the implementation of these orders.”
Justice Arbab Taher further inquired, “Are you trying to violate these orders? Who are the unknown individuals? Check them, whether they are members of the National Assembly or senators. If you do not act on the court order, why should contempt of court proceedings not be initiated against you?”
Superintendent Adiala Jail responded, “I also follow the court orders. This is also a notification from the Punjab Home Department.”
