Islamabad High Court Issues Arrest Warrant for Interior Secretary

The High Court had demanded a report from the Interior Secretary within one hour today.

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of the Secretary of the Interior for failing to remove Veena Lagger’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL).

Arrest warrants for the Secretary of the Interior have been issued by the Islamabad High Court.

The court had previously requested a report from the Interior Secretary regarding the request to remove Veena Lagger’s name from the ECL.

Despite court orders, the Islamabad High Court expressed displeasure at the failure to remove Veena Lagger’s name from the ECL.

The High Court had demanded a report from the Interior Secretary within one hour today.

Justice Sardar Aijaz Asghar Khan asked why Veena Lagger’s name was not removed from the ECL. If a satisfactory answer is not received, action for contempt of court will be taken today.

Despite the court order, Justice Sardar Aijaz Asghar Khan of the Islamabad High Court issued a warrant within one hour for failure to appear.

Government lawyers informed them that the DG Passport is on his way and will arrive shortly.

Justice Sardar Aijaz Asghar Khan questioned what they would say when the Ministry of Interior had stated that arrest warrants were being issued on bail bonds of Rs. 50,000, relevant SHO should present the Interior Secretary by one and a half.

Hearing Held in Lahore High Court on Contempt of Court Reference against Lawyer

In the Lahore High Court, a hearing was conducted on the contempt of court reference against the lawyer. Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan presided over the hearing on Justice Sultan Tanveer’s reference.

Justice Sultan Tanveer Ahmed had sent a reference to Chief Justice against Advocate Zahid Mahmood Goraya for contempt of court.

The reference stated that Advocate Zahid Mahmood Goraya continuously shouted in Justice Sultan Tanveer’s court, made extremely contemptuous and baseless allegations against the court and the bench. The court initiated contempt of court proceedings against the said lawyer.

During the hearing on Friday, upon the lawyer’s request for forgiveness, Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court remarked, “Ask forgiveness from God, we are mere mortals, this is a straightforward case, an individual crime has been committed.”

Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan further stated, “I want to proceed with this case on a daily basis, you have many lawyers, not just one lawyer.”

The Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court said, “The police come here every day, it costs money, we are afraid of you, so we call the police.”

The court adjourned the hearing on the lawyer’s request until Monday.
