Islamabad Gets Woman SHO for First Time in History

DIG Jawad Tariq Launches Drive for Gender Equality in Police

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Capital Territory Police has appointed Sub-Inspector Misbah Shehbaz as the first woman Station House Officer (SHO) to lead a male police station in the federal capital.

Sub-Inspector Misbah Shehbaz has been posted as SHO of Phulgran Police Station, marking the first time a woman has held this position in a male police station in Islamabad’s history.

The decision comes as part of a broader initiative led by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Muhammad Jawad Tariq to promote gender equality and eliminate discrimination within the police force.

Alongside Misbah Shehbaz, five other officers have been appointed to key positions: Alamgir Khan as SHO Koral, Zahid Shah as SHO Loi Bher, Shahnawaz as SHO Shams Colony, Mansabdar as SHO Nilore, and Basreen Akhtar as Incharge of the Women Police Station.

These changes follow the closure of previous SHOs in Koral, Phulgran, Shams Colony, and Loi Bher, namely Rizwan Gondal, Abdul Hameed, Khalid Mehmood, and Muhammad Saleem.
