CTO Islamabad leads meeting to curb overcharging by transporters
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad Muhammad Sarfraz Virk presided over a key meeting at Safe City Islamabad, bringing together officials and representatives from the Transport Association to address pressing transport issues in the capital.
Senior officers, including SP Traffic Majid Iqbal, SP Saddar Zone Kazim Naqvi, and SP CTD Khalid Mehmood Awan, participated alongside transport stakeholders. The discussion focused on curbing the issue of transporters overcharging passengers across the city.
During the session, the CTO issued firm instructions that overcharging will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He emphasized that strict legal action will be taken against those found violating fare regulations.

Transport Association representatives were also urged to maintain close coordination with law enforcement by promptly reporting passenger flow and any unusual transport-related situations, ensuring both safety and convenience for the public.
Reiterating the department’s priorities, the CTO stated that providing safe, respectful, and quality travel facilities remains a top focus of Islamabad Police. He warned that negligence or violations of the law would not be accepted.
At the conclusion of the meeting, all participants pledged to work collectively toward improving travel services and strengthening the traffic system, aiming to create a more organized and efficient transport network in Islamabad.
