Islamabad Braces for Chilly Weather: PMD Forecast

Islamabad, minimum temperatures are forecasted to range from 00-02 degrees Celsius on Wednesday today.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast for cold and dry weather prevailing over Islamabad and most parts of Pakistan in the upcoming days. The current weather pattern indicates the presence of continental air across the nation, with a slight westerly wave expected to influence northeastern Balochistan and southern Punjab within the next 12 hours.

During this period, Islamabad and various regions of the country are anticipated to experience predominantly cold and dry weather conditions, with freezing temperatures anticipated in the upper regions. However, there is a likelihood of rain, wind-thunderstorms, and snowfall in isolated areas of northeast Balochistan and southern Punjab during the evening and night. Additionally, shallow fog may affect certain areas in Punjab during morning and night hours.

In the capital city, Islamabad, minimum temperatures are forecasted to range from 00-02 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and -01-01 degrees Celsius on Thursday.

Over the past 24 hours, a significant portion of the country witnessed cold and partly cloudy weather. Shallow fog was observed in a few plain areas of Punjab, while rain/snowfall was reported in Rawalakot and Murree.

In particular, Kalam recorded the country’s lowest temperature, plummeting to 14 degrees Celsius below freezing. Meanwhile, Islamabad experienced a minimum temperature of 02 degrees Celsius, with a morning relative humidity of 92 percent.

As the country prepares for the chilly weather ahead, citizens are advised to take necessary precautions to stay warm and safe during this period of cold temperatures.
