Islamabad and Rawalpindi to Close Businesses for SCO Conference
To prepare for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) conference, authorities have issued a directive to close wedding halls, cafes, restaurants, and snooker clubs in Islamabad and Rawalpindi from October 12 to 16.
The SCO summit, which Pakistan will chair, is set to be held on October 16 and 17 in Islamabad, with the participation of various heads of state, including Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
According to police officials, security measures will be significantly increased in the twin cities during the conference. Notices have been distributed to traders, as well as hotel and restaurant owners, warning that legal action will be taken against anyone who fails to comply with the closure order.
Additionally, police have requested surety bonds from traders and hotel owners. A public holiday has also been declared in both cities from October 14 to 16.
