Islamabad Administration Grants Permission for PTI Rally, Location Sparks Controversy
This development paves the way for the PTI rally to take place, but the disagreement over the location sets the stage for a potential new legal challenge.
ISLAMABAD, The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has concluded a contempt of court case regarding the Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally in the federal capital. The case took a surprising turn when the district administration informed the court that they had granted permission for the rally to proceed.
Previously, the PTI had approached the IHC after the district administration denied their request to hold a rally. The court, upholding the right to assembly, had directed the administration to consider the request and set reasonable conditions.
However, the twist came with the location. The administration granted permission for the rally to be held on Rawat GT Road, which PTI’s lawyer, Shoaib Shaheen, deems unsuitable. He has indicated plans to challenge this decision and seek a different venue.

The IHC, having noted the administration’s change of stance, disposed of the initial petition requesting permission for the rally.
