Ishaq Dar unveils new diplomatic postings after PM’s approval

Shehbaz Sharif Approves Posting of 19 Ambassadors, Consuls

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday formally confirmed the appointment and transfer of 19 ambassadors and consuls general, saying the postings had received approval from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

In a message shared on X, Dar announced that the diplomatic appointments had been implemented to represent Pakistan in key international capitals. He said the decision reflected the government’s commitment to maintaining continuity in foreign relations while pursuing an active and forward-looking diplomatic agenda over the past two years.

“I am pleased to announce that, with the approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the appointment of 19 ambassadors and consuls general has been implemented to represent Pakistan abroad,” Dar stated.

The confirmation follows a report by 24 News last week, which had earlier disclosed the expected diplomatic reshuffle ahead of the official announcement.

Dar expressed confidence that Pakistan’s newly appointed envoys would perform their duties with clarity of vision, placing particular emphasis on economic diplomacy to strengthen trade, investment and bilateral cooperation.

According to the approved postings, Sadia Altaf Qazi has been assigned to Bangkok, Thailand, while Salman Sharif will serve in Berlin, Germany. Hasnain Yusuf has been posted to Brunei Darussalam, Irfan Ahmed to Dushanbe, and Tahir Hussain Andrabi to Geneva.

Ashar Shahzad will represent Pakistan in Kampala, Muhammad Amir Khan in Kathmandu, and Chaudhry Tipu Usman in London. Dr Bilal Ahmed has been appointed to Nairobi, Asim Ali Khan to Oslo, Ahmed Amjad Ali to Stockholm, Muhammad Mudassar Tipu to Tashkent, and Imran Ahmed Siddiqui to Tehran.

Ali Ansar Zaidi has been designated as Consul General in Frankfurt, while Yasir Iqbal Butt will serve as Consul General in Guangzhou, China.

Additional appointments include Shehbaz Hussain to Kandahar and Awais Ahmed Khan to Mazar-e-Sharif in Afghanistan. Siraj Ahmed Khan has been posted to Los Angeles, United States, while Faisal Abro will serve in Montreal, Canada.

Dar also paid tribute to officers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Pakistan’s diplomatic missions abroad, acknowledging their professionalism and dedication. He offered prayers for their success in advancing Pakistan’s national interests and strengthening relations with host countries.
