Ishaq Dar Returns After Successful Three-Day Visit to China

During the visit, the deputy prime minister also met China’s Executive Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang.

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has returned home after completing a successful three-day official visit to Beijing from January 3 to 5, the Foreign Office confirmed on Sunday.

According to Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi, Ishaq Dar became the first foreign minister to hold talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in 2026. The two leaders co-chaired the 7th Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue, during which they reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and cooperation.

During the visit, the deputy prime minister also met China’s Executive Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang. He held separate meetings with Liu Haisheng, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC), and Chen Xiaodong, Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA).

Ishaq Dar also met Xu Jiqing, Vice President of China Minmetals Corporation (MCC), to discuss matters of mutual interest, with a focus on economic cooperation and development projects.

The spokesperson said the visit marked the official launch of commemorative events celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.

The Foreign Office stated that the visit reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to further strengthen their strategic partnership and deepen cooperation across diverse sectors.
