Ishaq Dar Heads to Beijing to Co-Chair Key Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue
The visit is taking place at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar on Saturday departed for Beijing to co-chair the 7th Pakistan–China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue scheduled for January 4, the Foreign Office said.
According to the Foreign Office, Dar is the first foreign dignitary to visit China in 2026, underscoring the significance both countries attach to their longstanding strategic partnership.
The visit is taking place at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
The strategic dialogue, described as the highest consultative mechanism between Pakistan and China, will review the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation and deliberate on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The talks are also expected to explore new avenues of partnership and measures to further strengthen the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
The Foreign Office said the two sides are likely to announce a series of initiatives and commemorative activities marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, to be observed in 2026.
The visit forms part of ongoing high-level engagements between the two countries and reflects their shared commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation, while jointly promoting regional peace, stability and sustainable development.
