Iranian Ambassador Praises Pakistan’s Hospitality as President’s Visit Marks New Chapter in Bilateral Relations
Ambassador Moghadam emphasized the deep-rooted historical, cultural, and strategic ties between Iran and Pakistan.
ISLAMABAD – At the conclusion of the Iranian President’s high-level visit to Pakistan, Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam expressed deep gratitude to the Government and people of Pakistan for their exceptional hospitality and warm reception, calling the visit a historic milestone in the longstanding ties between the two neighboring nations.
In a statement issued following the visit, Ambassador Amiri Moghadam highlighted the “warm and generous hospitality” extended by the “friendly, brotherly” nation of Pakistan, commending its leadership for their critical role in the visit’s success.
Appreciation for Pakistani Leadership
The Ambassador offered special thanks to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, acknowledging his “outstanding role” in creating truly memorable moments during the Iranian delegation’s stay. He also extended heartfelt appreciation to President Asif Ali Zardari for graciously hosting the delegation at the President’s House.
Ambassador Amiri Moghadam praised Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir for his distinguished presence and valuable contributions, and thanked Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their professionalism and tireless coordination efforts.
He also conveyed gratitude to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz for their warm welcome in Lahore, calling the city “historic and beautiful.”

Recognition of Key Ministers
The Ambassador further acknowledged the efforts of several Pakistani ministers — Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Jam Kamal Khan, Abdul Aleem Khan, Muhammad Reza Hayat Hiraj, and Attaullah Tarar — for their sincere commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation. He credited them for playing a pivotal role in finalizing twelve significant Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) across various sectors.
Strengthening Strategic Ties
Ambassador Moghadam emphasized the deep-rooted historical, cultural, and strategic ties between Iran and Pakistan. The visit, he stated, marked a “new chapter” in bilateral relations, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to broaden cooperation in trade, infrastructure, culture, and other vital sectors.
He noted the mutual resolve of the leadership in both countries to elevate relations, particularly the shared goal of expanding bilateral trade to $10 billion. “It is now our duty and honor,” he added, “to work tirelessly toward the realization of this shared vision.”
The Iranian Embassy in Islamabad, he assured, would remain fully committed to advancing the agenda set forth during this landmark visit.
