Iran threatens hotels housing US troops as Pentagon weighs 10K deployment
Iran Names Hotels as War Targets While the US Quietly Moves Thousands of Troops Closer to Its Borders
Middle East – (Web Desk) – Iran’s military is now threatening hotels across the Middle East. Why? Because US soldiers are staying in them instead of military bases.
Iran’s armed forces spokesman said it simply. If American forces are inside a hotel, that hotel becomes a target. He added that Iran won’t just sit back while the US strikes them.
Iran’s Foreign Minister went further. He accused US troops of hiding behind civilians in Gulf countries. He even called on hotels to stop taking bookings from American soldiers.
Reports say Iran has already sent serious warnings to hotels in the UAE and Bahrain. Iranian forces have also spotted US troops using similar spots in Syria, Lebanon and Djibouti.
Gulf countries pushed back on the accusations. They say they have never allowed anyone to use their land or airspace to attack Iran.
Could 10,000 More US Troops Head to the Middle East?
Washington is thinking about sending up to 10,000 extra troops to the region. The Wall Street Journal broke the story on Friday. The idea is to give President Trump more options on the ground.
This comes after the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran back on February 28. Those strikes killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and started a war that quickly spread across the whole region.
Trump keeps saying he has no plans to send troops into direct combat with Iran. But the new soldiers would likely be placed close enough to strike Iran or its key oil island, Kharg Island.
Israel Hits Tehran Again
Israel carried out a fresh wave of strikes on Tehran early Friday. The Israeli military said it hit key infrastructure right in the heart of the city. It also struck missile production sites and air defense facilities across Iran.
Earlier, Israel said it killed the Revolutionary Guards’ top naval commander along with several senior officers.
The War Keeps Spreading
Kuwait’s main port took a hit from a drone attack at dawn. There was damage to the port but thankfully no one was hurt.
In Lebanon, an Israeli strike hit Beirut’s southern suburbs early Friday. People nearby heard several explosions.
Saudi Arabia said it shot down four drones over its eastern region.
Explosions rock areas near Pakistan’s embassy in Tehran
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they fired missiles and drones at targets in Israel and at US military facilities in the Gulf. They claimed they hit a Patriot air defense maintenance site in Bahrain.
Trump Pauses the Pressure, For Now
Trump said he won’t strike Iranian power plants just yet. He pushed his own deadline back by ten days to April 6. He says talks with Iran are going really well and wants to give them more time.
Japan Turns Coal Plants Back On
Far from the war zone, Japan is feeling the pressure too. The country is lifting limits on coal power plants to deal with an energy shortage caused by the Middle East conflict. Older plants that were running at half capacity will now be allowed to run at full power for a full year.
