Iran Rejects Trump’s Claims on Missile Program

Iran Denies US Accusations Over Missiles and Protest Deaths

TEHRAN: (Web Desk) – Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran dismissed claims made by former US President Donald Trump regarding its missile program and nuclear ambitions as “big lies” on Wednesday.

Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said on X that allegations about Iran’s nuclear activities, ballistic missile developments, and casualties from January unrest were false, though he did not specify which specific claims he was addressing.

Earlier, Trump had asserted that Iran was working on missiles capable of striking the United States. In a February interview with Al Jazeera, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Tehran lacked such long-range capabilities but warned it would target US bases in the Middle East if provoked.

During his State of the Union address, Trump also reiterated that Iran would never be permitted to develop nuclear weapons, claiming Tehran was “pursuing their sinister nuclear ambitions.” Iran, however, maintains that its nuclear program is strictly for peaceful purposes and denies any intention to develop nuclear arms.

Trump additionally alleged that Iranian authorities killed 32,000 people during protests that began in December and peaked in early January. Iranian officials acknowledge over 3,000 deaths, attributing the violence to what they describe as “terrorist acts” influenced by the United States and Israel. The US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) has documented more than 7,000 deaths, noting that the actual toll may be higher.
