Iran Holds Parliamentary and Assembly of Experts Elections Amid International Coverage and Robust Security Measures.
Tehran: On Friday, March 1, 2024, Iran commenced its 12th round of parliamentary elections and the sixth round of the Assembly of Experts elections. The election process officially began at 8 AM local time, marking a significant moment for the country’s democratic journey.
The elections garnered significant international attention, with over 350 foreign journalists present to cover the latest developments and outcomes. This extensive media coverage highlights the global interest in Iran’s democratic processes.
Ensuring the security of the elections was a top priority, with over 250,000 individuals deployed across the country for this purpose. Iran’s Deputy Minister of Interior reported that nearly 300,000 people were involved in safeguarding the security of the electoral process, demonstrating the government’s commitment to a smooth and secure voting experience.
Moreover, approximately 230,000 public observers actively participated in overseeing the elections, contributing to the transparency and integrity of the electoral process. Tahan Nazif, spokesperson for the Constitutional Council, revealed this significant number, emphasizing the importance of public participation in upholding democratic principles.
