Iran Denies Refusing Islamabad Talks With US

Iran Rejects Reports of Refusing Talks in Islamabad With US

TEHRAN: (Web Desk) – Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, has dismissed reports claiming that Tehran refused to participate in talks with US officials in Islamabad.

The clarification comes after a report by The Washington Post suggested that Iran had declined a proposed meeting with American representatives in Pakistan’s capital. The report also claimed, citing mediators, that Tehran found US demands unacceptable and was not prepared for discussions in the coming days.

According to the publication, diplomatic efforts are still ongoing, with countries like Turkey and Egypt working to facilitate dialogue. Alternative venues, including Doha and Istanbul, are reportedly under consideration, along with new proposals aimed at breaking the current deadlock.

Responding to the claims, Abbas Araqchi shared a video on social media highlighting the strong goodwill between the people of Iran and Pakistan. He reiterated that Iran has never refused to visit Islamabad for talks.

He also acknowledged Pakistan’s role in promoting peace efforts, appreciating its attempts to facilitate a ceasefire. However, he stressed that some international media reports have misrepresented the situation.

The Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized that Tehran’s position remains clear: any agreement must ensure a comprehensive and lasting end to the conflict, rather than a temporary pause.
