Inzamam Criticizes PCB and National Team After New Zealand Defeat, Stresses Stability in Selection
Inzamam Questions Babar Azam and Rizwan’s Exclusion, Supports Babar's PSL Comeback
LAHORE: Former Pakistan cricket captain Inzamamul Haq has strongly criticized both the national team and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following Pakistan’s defeat in the first T20I against New Zealand. Speaking at a Peshawar Zalmi sponsorship event in Lahore, Inzamam expressed concerns over the PCB’s frequent changes to the squad, warning that such instability would only harm the future of Pakistan cricket.
Inzamam emphasized that constant team alterations are damaging to the sport and stressed the need for the PCB to trust its management and players. “If you remove the 1990s generation of cricketers, Pakistan’s cricket will become very weak,” he said, highlighting the importance of experience in rebuilding the team’s strength.
The former captain also questioned the decision to rest key players Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, suggesting that they were actually dropped from the lineup rather than given a break. He voiced full support for Babar Azam, noting that the upcoming PSL season could serve as an ideal opportunity for him to regain his form.
