Internet Services Severely Disrupted Across Pakistan, Including Karachi and Quetta

ISLAMABAD Internet services have been severely disrupted across Pakistan, with reports of widespread outages affecting various regions, including Karachi, Quetta, and Peshawar. Users have been facing significant slowdowns, leading to frustration, particularly among those relying on the internet for online work.

According to sources, internet connectivity has been sluggish not only in Karachi but also in other major cities, including Quetta in Balochistan. Residents of Quetta have raised concerns about the persistent connectivity issues and have urged authorities to restore services promptly.

In Peshawar, several areas have also experienced significant disruptions, further compounding the difficulties faced by internet users. Online businesses and freelancers, in particular, have expressed their dissatisfaction as they are unable to carry out their work due to the poor internet speeds.

In a related development, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) issued a statement clarifying that no ban will be imposed on Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). The decision follows legal guidance from the Ministry of Law, which stated that under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016, the government does not have the legal authority to impose such a ban.
