Interior Ministry warns PTI of terror attacks in long march

The Interior Ministry Wednesday dispatched a report to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in which the leadership was informed about the possible terrorist attacks in the PTI long march in Rawalpindi.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the ministry shared its intelligence report with PTI secretary general Asad Umar and warned that the militants could target the gathering of PTI. The report referred to the meeting of a banned militant outfit in which the terrorists set new targets for them.

In the letter written to the PTI leader Asad Umar, the ministry also informed about the possible threats.

The recent attack in Wazirabad by an armed assailant on November 3 has again highlighted the importance of taking the threat alerts seriously, particularly in the context of the resumption of the long march and its culmination in Rawalpindi on November 26 where PTI Chairman announced his decision to attend, it added.

It further read as “extremist parties may launch a terror attack on PTI’s long march and suicide or bomb attack may also happen in public gatherings. “There is also fear of action by external elements in the attack, it adds.

The ministry has urged the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to postpone the public meeting in Rawalpindi in the larger interest of the people.
