Information Minister Stresses Importance of Truthful Journalism

Announces Rs. 0.6 Million Grant for Ghazi Millat Press Club

Muzaffarabad-(Special Correspondent)- Information Minister of Independent Government of Jammu and Kashmir, Pir Muhammad Mazhar Saeed Shah, visited the Ghazi Millat Press Club in Rawalkot, where he was welcomed by Sardar Abid Siddique, the club’s president. During the visit, Shah announced a grant of Rs. 0.6 million for the press club and addressed journalists, emphasizing the challenges of seeking truth in the digital age.

Shah stressed that journalism is a mission, not just a profession, and highlighted the importance of verifying information, citing Islamic teachings and the Quran’s command to verify news. He acknowledged the difficulties journalists face in accessing truth due to fake news and disinformation on social media.

The Azad Kashmir government, Shah assured, will provide resources for journalists’ welfare and ensure access to information. He explained that the law of access to information is with the standing committee of the assembly, allowing journalists to obtain information from any department.
