Info Minister Ata Tarar Denounces PTI’s Attempt to Undermine Foreign Policy

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information, Ata Tarar, has strongly condemned the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party’s recent actions aimed at undermining the country’s foreign policy, emphasizing the need for unity and coherence in this critical area.

Addressing concerns raised during the National Assembly session regarding the presence of foreign diplomats inside the assembly hall, Minister Tarar highlighted the importance of maintaining focus on national interests rather than engaging in divisive rhetoric. He criticized the opposition for spreading misinformation and unwarranted criticism, especially during visits by delegations from friendly nations.

Tarar asserted that playing politics with foreign policy matters is detrimental to the country’s interests and stability. He pointed out instances where certain PTI members have made statements contrary to the government’s official stance on international affairs, only to backtrack later or face rebuke from their own party.

Expressing his firm stance, Minister Tarar emphasized that criticism should be directed towards him and his party, rather than undermining Pakistan’s standing on the global stage. He reaffirmed that Pakistan will not tolerate baseless accusations against its foreign policy initiatives.

Furthermore, Tarar highlighted the positive economic indicators and growing investor confidence in Pakistan, as acknowledged by international financial institutions and economic journals. He stressed that the country is on track to overcome inflation and attract more foreign investment, despite attempts by certain elements to disrupt progress.

Govt absorbs Rs 45 bln burden, spares public from sales tax, petroleum levy: Tarar

Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar told the National Assembly on Friday that the government paid Rs 45 billion for sales tax and petroleum levy without burdening the public.
In response to the Calling Attention Notices from lawmakers, the minister explained that the government raises petroleum product prices based on international market trends. Azam Nazeer emphasized that reducing the burden on the public is a primary focus for the government.
The minister highlighted Pakistan’s insufficient domestic production of petroleum products, resulting in heavy reliance on imports. He mentioned that the government reviews petroleum product prices every fifteen days, considering international market prices.
The minister noted a recent rise of about $4.50 per barrel in petroleum product prices. Despite these challenges, the government is dedicated to maintaining affordable prices to ease the burden on the public.
Azam Nazeer emphasized that the recent increase, reflecting a global market rise of $3.82 to $4.30 per barrel, was implemented with the public’s welfare in consideration.

Pakistan committed to further strengthen parliamentary cooperation with Kazakhstan: Speaker

Speaker National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq Friday said that Pakistan highly values its relations with Kazakhstan and is committed to further enhancing them through increased people-to-people contacts, strengthened parliamentary cooperation, expanded economic ties, and regional connectivity.
He made these remarks during a meeting with the Kazakhstan Ambassador, Yerzhan Kistafin, who called on him at the Parliament House. The Speaker said that both countries share common views on various regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Ayaz Sadiq stressed the importance of enhancing parliamentary cooperation, noting that both countries were committed to strengthening their parliamentary links through increased interaction between the two legislatures.
The Speaker proposed activating the Pak-Kazakhstan Parliamentary Friendship Group and high-level exchanges between the two parliaments to bring the brotherly countries closer. He also proposed increased interaction between the business communities of both countries for mutual benefit, highlighting the immense potential for investment in oil exploration, energy generation, agriculture, and other economic sectors.
Ambassador Yerzhan Kistafin congratulated the Speaker on his successful re-election and expressed his country’s high regard for its friendship with Pakistan, and keenness to strengthen relations and enhance cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, including parliamentary cooperation.
